BTOP Q4-2011 Summary of Activities

October 1 - December 31, 2011

  1. Executed contract with Light Tower for dark fiber Indefeasible Right to Use to connect network to Boston.
  2. Executed attachment agreements with Unitil and Granby and negotiating with Department of Conservation & Recreation, Massachusetts Development Finance Agency, & Richmond Telephone.
  3. Executed Housatonic Railroad License & finalized the MCER agreement. 
  4. Drafted Point of Interconnection Agreement & reviewed with 10 Points of Interconnection.
  5. Completed field data collection.
  6. Submitted applications for 8,800 poles and 4 miles of conduit, for a total of over 29,400 poles and 28 miles of conduit.
  7. Received cost estimates on 5,600 poles for Verizon & 2,500 poles for electric companies, for total to date of 13,800 from Verizon and 6,700 from electric companies.
  8. Received 22 conduit record searches from Verizon.
  9. Received 387 pole licenses for Verizon and 430 for Western Mass. Electric.
  10. Finalized construction schedule with Design Builder.
  11. Received approval of one Notice of Intent in accordance with Mass. Wetland Protection Act.
  12. Received district wide permits from Department of Transportation.
  13. Submitted 44 drawings to 6 railroads for permitting.
  14. Completed site surveys of 632 Community Anchors and 24 Points of interconnect. Completed designs for 96 Community Anchors & 3 Points of Interconnect.
  15. Completed all fiber diagrams.
  16. Completed construction drawings for 4 segments & completed splicing diagrams for first phase.
  17. Obtained infrastructure components -inside plant parts, fiber, optical network equipment, termination panels, and power plant.
  18. Implemented prototype test lab simulating 3 Points of Interconnection for proof-ofdesign and testing.
  19. Executed 5 Letters of Intent with Internet Service Providers, for a total of 9 to date.
  20. Executed 1 Connecting Agreement with Internet Service Provider.
  21. Hosted Service Provider Summit detailing network's features, capabilities & service offerings.
